Musharraf drove Pakistan into war for power: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Thursday that former military ruler Pervez Musharraf drove the country into war to remain in power.
Speaking to the media here, Nisar said there was no turmoil in the tribal areas of the country in 2002-2003. He added that residents of tribal areas were displaced after 9/11 and there was no Pakistani involved in this act of terror.
According to the interior minister the then leadership of the army drove the country into a foreign war to remain in power.
Nisar said the war had destroyed the country and the PML-N government initiated dialogue when it came into power. Nisar emphsised the PML-N government wanted to establish peace in the country.
The interior minister further said there had been developments in the dialogue process with the Taliban and peace could be established via talks.
Nisar informed reporters that he would be meeting with the government committee in a day or two and will discuss the future strategy for the dialogue process.
