ISLAMABAD: The federal government has finally filled the vacant position of inspector general of Sindh Police by putting Iqbal Mehmood in charge on Monday. The appointment was notified after the approval of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Earlier on February 20, Mehmood was promoted as acting Sindh IGP from the post of Crime Investigation Department additional inspector general. The promotion was made following the retirement of Sindh Police Inspector General Shahid Nadeem Baloch. Differences emerged between the Sindh and federal governments over the nomination for the position that kept the appointment in delay for a long time.
