PUC for punishing all thosemistreating non-Muslims

LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council [PUC] Central Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has declared attacks on worship places and properties of non-Muslims in Interior Sindh as being extremely sad. He said that some forces are carrying out this sort of activities in an attempt to give a bad name to Islam and Pakistan, and generate a sense of grievance and hatred among non-Muslims. It is the responsibility of all religious and political forces to foil such schemes.
He mentioned that the PUC has convened a meeting of the representatives of all religions and sects in Karachi on April 16th, during which a joint course of action will be determined to deal with the existing situation. He said that anyone who treats non-Muslims unjustly should be punished. Islam is a religion of peace, love and fairness, and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] and the Four Caliphs prescribe indiscriminate punishment for all wrongdoers.
The PUC chairman further said that the representatives of all religions and sects should come up with a joint course of action to prevent the wrong use of blasphemy laws.
He said that Islamic teachings prescribe complete protection to the lives, honour and properties of non-Muslims living in Muslim majority countries.
It is important to hold inter-faith and inter-sectarian dialogue at public level, and draw attention to similarities between different religions and sects in order to mitigate hatred among the people.
