COAS statement ‘makes no difference’ to Nawaz: ShahISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah Wednesday observed that Chief of Army Staff “Gen. Raheel Sharif is Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s own” and the former’s statement makes no difference to the latter.
Talking to newsmen here, Khursheed Shah stressed that all the state organs should operate within their constitutional domains ‘because any clash between them is against the country’s interest’.
“Why are we promoting the notion that Gen Raheel Sharif is against democracy,” he questioned, adding however, that the ministers should desist from issuing unnecessary statements in regard to Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s treason trial.
The Opposition leader said all should be indiscriminately held to account in the matter of imposition of emergency including former chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Referring to Protection of Pakistan Ordinance, Shah said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) should not act in haste as the matter is yet to come before the Senate.
