Chaos in Sindh Assembly as members exchange harsh remarks

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly session was adjourned on Friday after the PPP and MQM members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) exchanged provoking remarks against alleged fake appointments in Sindh, Geo News reported.

Acting Speaking Shehla Raza made efforts to control the situation and later adjourned the session until Monday morning.

The session began under the chairmanship of Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. During the break, Provincial Education Minister Nisar Khoro admitted that thousands of fake appointments were made during the past five years.

On this occasion, MQM MPA Khalid Ahmed said that the education minister has admitted thousands of ‘fake’ appointments and that ineligible teachers were appointed. Replying to the allegations, Nisar Khoro asked the MQM MPA not to title the people of Sindh as ‘ineligible’.

Following the exchange of remarks, chaos erupted in the Sindh Assembly resulting in more harsh exchanges between Information Minister Sharjeel Memon and MQM MPA Khuwaja Izharul Hassan.

Acting Speaker Shehla Raza, then, discontinued the session for ten minutes but was still marred by tension when resumed, and ultimately resulted in adjournment of session until Monday.
