SC issues detailed verdict on Musharraf’s plea

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued its detailed judgement over the disposal of the review petition filed by former military dictator Pervez Musharraf against the apex court’s earlier decision. The apex court termed the petition as time-barred and rejected it. Musharraf had challenged the SC’s earlier judgement, which affirmed the dictator’s emergency of November 3, 2007 as illegal and other steps as unconstitutional. The apex court’s 14-member larger bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, on January 30, 2014, disposed of the petition, stating that the plea contained irrelevant precedence and was also time-barred. The 42-page detailed judgement was written by CJP Tasadduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and added 12 pages of additional notes to the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court.
