Aiders of Musharraf also be tried: Altaf

KARACHI: Muttahida Qumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has questioned as to why General Musharraf is being tried and other generals, who aided and abetted the 1999 coup, are being spared. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Nazeer Hussain University telephonically on Saturday, Altaf said that Musharraf was not even on the ground when Nawaz Sharif’s government was toppled and that it were other generals who had arrested Sharif. He asked as to why only Musharraf was being tried for breaching the constitution? “Why those who were involved in aiding and abetting the coup are being spared? Is this justice?” Altaf asked. He also said that he could return to Pakistan anytime soon. “Mind it! I can land in Pakistan whenever it becomes necessary for me to do so. I have even applied for a passport,” Altaf said and added that he would move the court in case he was denied a passport.
