4 mobile phone operators bid for 3G, 4G licences

ISLAMABAD: Four cellular mobile phone operators (CMOs) have submitted their bids to get 3G and 4G licences while a process of qualifying CMOs will conclude on April 17. The auction for licences is scheduled to take place on April 23.
Officials at the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) informed Daily Times that all the CMOs working in the country, except for WARID, have submitted their bids while no foreign firm has shown interest in the auction of licences. The deadline to submit bids with the PTA lapsed at 4pm on Monday.
They said that CMOs have demanded more in comparison with the spectrum already set by the PTA.
Officials at the PTA as well as the Ministry of Telecommunication believe that the government is likely to earn at least $1.3 billion with this auction.
