Pakistan shares nuclear policy with security leaders in US
Foreign secretary says Pakistan’s nuclear programme only for self-defence

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has said that Pakistan’s nuclear program is for self-defence and deterrence and is aimed to preserve strategic stability in the region.

He said while speaking to journalists on the eve of Nuclear Security Summit in Washington. He said that Pakistan’s nuclear program is fully secured and there has not been a single breach.

The foreign secretary said that steps taken by Pakistan for the safety and security of its nuclear material and facilities have been praised and acknowledged by the United States as well as International Atomic Energy Agency.

Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi held a meeting with the Chinese foreign minister in Washington on the side-lines of Nuclear Security Summit. Matters pertaining to bilateral cooperation and mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. Tariq Fatemi represents Pakistan at the summit.
