By-poll: Imran calls for army deployment as MQM, PTI clash in Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Saturday demanded deployment of army and Rangers for by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-245 after a clash between the workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and PTI workers left four people injured in Karachi.

Imran Khan twitted on late Saturday night that the MQM workers attacked PTI office at Star Chowrangi and fired at the PTI workers. “We demand army and Rangers be deployed for election in NA-245.”

He said the MQM workers also attacked PTI leaders and activists on Friday in the same area. “MQM terror tactics are unacceptable. PTI will respond,” Imran Khan said.

Earlier, Both MQM and PTI reported injuries to their workers in the clash at Five Stat Chowrangi in North Nazimabad area of the city. Haleem Adil Sheikh, a senior PTI leader said MQM workers vandalized PTI election office, leaving a party worker injured.

On the other end, MQM leader Jamal Raza said three men affiliated with his party were injured when the other side opened fire. He said an MQM rally was attacked by the PTI workers.
