Chicago holds vigil to honour Lahore blast victims

CHICAGO: Scores of people held a vigil in memory of victims of March 27 terrorist bombing in Lahore and to demonstrate sympathy and solidarity with the people of Pakistan. The vigil was arranged by the Lahore chapter of Chicago sister city in collaboration with Consulate General of Pakistan and Pakistan-America community in Chicago. People from all walks of life including Secretary of State Jesse White and other US officials as well as members of the Pakistani community showed up at the event to express sympathy with the people of Pakistan. Messages from Governor Rauce Bruner, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Attorney General Lisa Madigan were read out by their special representatives. They expressed their strong support for the people and government of Pakistan in their fight against terrorism. Consul General Faisal Niaz Tirmizi thanked the people and US officials for their gesture of sympathy, solidarity and support for the people of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is a resilient nation and will defeat the forces that carry out such heinous crimes.
