Imran Khan wants CJ-headed panel over Panama leaks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan Thursday demanded of the government to constitute a judicial commission headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan over Panama leaks.

Speaking from the floor of the National Assembly, Imran Khan in his fiery speech said forensic experts be made part of the proposed commission.

“If an independent and powerful commission wasn’t formed, the PTI would be left with no other option but to come out on streets,” the PTI chief warned, amid desk thumping from opposition benches.

Imran Khan said he invites the proposed commission to begin its investigation from him and his residence in Bani Gala.

He said the Prime Minister should come forward and present himself for accountability.

Earlier, he regretted that instead of coming up with a reasonable response on Panama leaks, the government representatives started smearing Shaukat Khanum Hospital which is the only cancer hospital of Pakistan that provides free treatment to the poor.

Imran Khan said Shaukat Khanum Hospital was not built with laundered money, adding, on the contrary 40 percent of the hospital’s funds come from abroad.

He said cancer hospitals abroad charge 10 times more than what Shaukat Khanum Hospital takes for the same treatment and urged the government not to indulge in undue criticism of such a facility. “You should think and act in the greater interest of the country,’ he added.

Imran Khan lamented that Pakistan has witnessed increase of billions in its loan over the past three years.
