‘Indian agents, arms possible in Chottu Gang’s hideout’

Former deputy PM says Punjab govt patronising criminals

LAHORE – Former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Sunday pointed out that agents from India’s RAW intelligence agency can also be there if Chottu Gang has got Indian arms in the 10 kilometres long island hideout in district Rajanpur.

“If Chottu Gang has got Indian arms then RAW agents also could be there,” he said while talking to journalists here. The security forces have given heavily armed gangsters on an island hideout in the centre of river Ravi until Sunday evening to release abducted policemen and surrender, or be wiped out.

“Chottu Gang has exposed the good governance of (Chief Minister) Shahbaz Sharif in Punjab and the fake survey in this regard as well,” said Elahi, a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q. “Our government had approved setting up of police patrolling posts in Rojhan Chowk, Pul Kharak, Shado Wali, Kakhar, Iqbalabad near Son Miyani Centre in Kacha area but Shahbaz Sharif abolished this project to give criminals a free hand to build concrete bunkers,” he said.

“Punjab government itself has paid ransom for release of Health EDO Dr Mushtaq Rasool and 10 policemen because owing to that reasons police of eight districts was fighting with Chottu Gang for many days and after all the army had to step in to complete the operation,” he said.

“We are saying for the last two years that such anti-social elements are present in South Punjab who are being patronised by the Punjab government whereas presence of Chottu Gang and terrorists was also pinpointed in the meeting of senior army officers and Shahbaz Sharif in 2015,” he said.

He pointedly stated that during the last eight years, dacoits and facilitators were patronised in this area. He asked if there was no no-go area and hideouts of the criminals in the Punjab then where the army was carrying out the operation today, from where Chottu Gang got such modern heavy and sophisticated weapons and facilities.
