Govt, military on same page over corruption, accountability: Nisar

NEW YORK: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has stated that the government and military were on the same page on the issue of corruption and accountability.

Addressing a press conference here, the interior minister said development would be made in a day or two over Panama leaks, and commission or committee would be formed with the consensus of opposition.

Nisar said several factors were behind delay in formation of inquiry commission over Panama leaks.

“In the beginning there was no consensus in the opposition. They demanded inquiry through FIA, NAB and Supreme Court. Also, several senior judges refused to head the commission,” he said while giving details of the delay factors.

Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally at F-9 Park Islamabad, the minister said Imran Khan’s party is allowed to hold foundation day rally after written assurance.

“Holding rally in the federal capital is not an offence. The issue emerges when rally turns into sit-in,” he remarked.
