Sri Lankan minister accepts Nisar’s invitation to visit Pakistan

Two ministers met on sidelines of UN General Assembly’s Special Session on World’s Drug Problem

ISLAMABAD - Sri Lanka’s Minister for Law and Order Sagala Ratnayaka has accepted an invitation from Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to visit Pakistan to further cement relations between the two countries.

The two ministers met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s Special Session on the World’s Drug Problem. Nisar is currently in New York as leader of 7-member delegation to represent Pakistan at the UN and spoke on Pakistan’s efforts to curb the illicit narcotics trade.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to UN Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, Anti-Narcotics Division Secretary Ijaz Ali Shah and Anti-Narcotics Force Director General Major General Nasir Dilawar Shah also attended the meeting from Pakistan side.

The Meeting between the Pakistan and Sri Lankan ministers ranged over a number of areas of bilateral cooperation as well as narcotics control. The Sri Lankan minister conveyed the desire of his government to strengthen relations with Pakistan. He also briefed Nisar about his country’s efforts to control drugs.
