PM visits presidency, discusses ‘something’ with Mamnoon

Nawaz briefs president on govt’s policies, decisions on various issues

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday and discussed overall issues including development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), ongoing energy projects, law and order situation, national economy and Zarb-e-Azb operation.

The prime minister arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in the morning for the meeting and exchanged views on matters of national importance. He briefed the president on policies and decisions of the government on various issues. The president commended the prime minister and his economic team for reviving the national economy through sound policy initiatives.

The two called upon all to cooperate with the government in completing development agenda and maintain stability in Pakistan. They resolved that the government would not be distracted from its agenda of progress and would vigorously pursue to complete the projects to usher prosperity and improve the standard of living of the people. The government has ensured transparency and judicious use of public money while implementing various development projects and has followed zero tolerance policy for corruption.

They also reviewed the progress of the Zarb-e-Azb operation and expressed satisfaction at the successes achieved and reaffirmed that the operation would continue till elimination of the last terrorists from Pakistan. Both the leaders reviewed the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have friendly relations with all the neighbouring countries for peace and prosperity in the region.

The two leaders underscored the need for national unity and cohesion in order to confront and overcome the challenges being faced by Pakistan and to put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.
