Socio-economic uplift of Balochistan top priority of govt: PM

Balochistan will reap highest benefits from CPEC project

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said socio-economic uplift of Balochistan is top priority of the government.

Talking to Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Khan Zehri who called on him in Islamabad on Friday, the prime minister said that the incumbent government is proactively pursuing the agenda of progress and development across the country.

“Gawadar will soon be a modern industrial port city, which will change the lives of the people of Balochistan and the region. We are determined to empower and enable the people of Balochistan to fully realise their true potentials in all spheres of life.” he said.

He said that Balochistan would reap the highest benefits from the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. “Balochistan is close to my heart and I am personally monitoring pace of the ongoing projects and schemes in the Province.” he said.

Earlier, the chief minister apprised the PM Nawaz on the status of various development projects and welfare schemes presently undertaken across the province. In the wake of revival of peace and stability in the province, the focus has been renewed to bring the province at par with rest of the country, he stated.

The chief minister thanked PM Nawaz for initiating massive infrastructure development projects across the province including the announcement of development and uplift package for Quetta city. He lauded the leadership of the prime minister for prioritising development schemes in Balochistan which would certainly address the decades old deprivations of the people of the province.

The overall law and order situation has immensely improved in the province for which the government and people of Balochistan are grateful to the federal government, he said.
