Leaders slam Qadri for threat to police officers

LAHORE – Leaders of various political and religious parties have condemned Tahirul Qadri's directions to his party workers to avenge and react in the same fashion if police obstruct the Martyrs' March on August 10.
"It exposes Qadri's agenda of destabilising the country and harm the democratic system," they said. Former Law Minister Punjab Rana Sanaullah Khan said the PAT chairman had run amok to serve the agenda of foreign masters in Pakistan.
Rana said in civilised societies political parties staged protests and rallies but in decent manners. He said provoking party workers to prepare a clique of 5,000 workers to avenge from police officers the Model Town incident even in their houses was an act to grab power. He further said Qadri's threat had exposed his real face but politically sane people would reject Maulana's politics of corpses and continue to support their own democratically elected government.
Senior Vice President Jamiat Ahle Hadith Zubair Ahmed Zaheer said Qadri was an empty cartridge as he was neither a religious leader nor a Pakistani. The foreign national, he said, would return to Canada on August 15.
Describing Qadri as religious fanatic, Zubair said, people are fed up with paper leaders like Tahirul Qadri and will not be deceived by his hollow slogan of revolution.
Jamiat Ulema e Islam (Sami)'s central leader Maulana Tahirul Ashrafi reacting to Tahirul Qadri's orders to party workers to pay in the same coin if attacked by police on martyrs day, urged the government to take serious notice of the act, don't show any weakness, arrest Qadri and institute a case of treason against him. He alleged the PAT chairman was bent upon destroying national institutions to fulfil his foreign agenda.
Awami National Party Senior Vice President Ahsan Wyne said by ordering to punish police officers in their houses, Qadri was promoting fascism in the country. He said since Qadri had no stakes in Pakistan he was least bothered about Pakistan. He urged the government to send Tahirul Qadri back to Canada forthwith. Wyne said the entire nation was already at war against terrorists and had sacrificed precious livesand it would not allow Tahirul Qadri to play with their destiny.
Azma Zayed Bokhari, a lawmaker in the Punjab Assembly, said it seemed that Qadri was hatching a conspiracy to push the country to civil war. She urged Qadri to put off his protest march in the larger national interest.
