ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to the Federation and Chairman Pakistan Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) over a petition of the broadcasters body.

A bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk was hearing the case about appointment of the PEMRA chairman.

Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has filed a petition in the court seeking to become a party in the case.

PBA counsel Irfan Qadir on a query of Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk said that the PBA has been the representative body of all television channels.

The counsel over a question about the stance of the PBA over the issue said that the association will defend the high court decision of removal of the chairman PEMRA from his office.

The court issued notices to the federation and chairman PEMRA and adjourned the hearing for three days.
