AJI announces to join PTI’s million march

PESHAWAR: Coalition partner Awami Jamhoori Ittehad (AJI) decided on Thursday to take part in the “Azadi March” of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on August 14. “We will mobilise around 100,000 people to join the march,” Shahram Khan Taraki, leader of AJI and KP minister for health, told a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club. The decision comes as a departure from the earlier position when Taraki had told a news conference, sharing Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq’s opinion, that they were part of the PTI-led coalition ruling Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and not a member of “political alliance” with the ruling PTI. He said the participation decision was taken in larger interest of the province and democracy.
