Govt writes to SC, asks to form PM proposed probe commission

 

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has written a letter to the Supreme Court to form a judicial commission to probe into the allegations of rigging in May 11, 2013 elections leveled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman , Imran Khan.

The letter has been forward by Secretary Law and Justice.

The apex court was approached after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his televised address proposed a three-judge commission to investigate into the poll rigging allegations.

In the letter, it has been requested that the inquiry be conducted and its report submitted within 90 days.

According to the text of the letter, the government, if a need arises, could constitute a commission under Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act 1956.
