Demand for technocrat govt ‘undemocratic’, says Aitzaz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and legal expert Aitzaz Ahsan has said the demand to form technocratic government was ‘undemocratic’.

Speaking to Geo News, Aitzaz Ahsan said: “the constitution of Pakistan does not permit formation of technocrat’s government.” He said if the parliament is dissolved, the interim government would be formed with the consultation of leader of the house and the opposition leader.

He said: “it is the sole discretion of the prime minister to dissolve National Assembly”, adding that no body could force the PM to resign or dissolve the parliament.

Forcibly demanding resignation from the premier is unconstitutional, however, protesting peacefully is a constitutional, he observed.
