ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Army has taken control of the security of the Parliament House in view of the imposition of Article 245 of the constitution in Islamabad and the proposed ‘long march’ protest movement by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

According to a private news channel, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and heads of all three armed forces, lawmakers and top political figures will take part in the Independence Day celebration ceremonies. All passes for staff of the Parliament House have already been cancelled in view of security measures.

In its statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that main ceremony of the Independence Day would be held on the eve of August 14. Pakistan Air Force will also perform fly-past on the occasion. A special documentary featuring history of Pakistan will also be screened during the gathering, the ISPR director general said.
