Global Inter-FaithHarmony Council to be established

Leaders of different religions and sects based in the United States, Muslim and European countries have decided to establish Inter-Faith Harmony Council (IFHC) for promoting inter-faith and inter-sectarian dialogue, harmony and forbearance. The council will be led by Imam of Kaaba Sheikh Abdul Rehman Al-Sudais, whereas its supreme council will consist of the top leadership of different religions and sects. Speaking of the objectives of the IFHC, Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Central Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that the entire world is desperately in need of dialogue at the moment. “Rational Muslim and non-Muslim leaderships across the globe are of the opinion that human development is not possible without reconciliation and dialogue between different religions and sects. Likewise, it is impossible to put an end to oppression until people belonging to all religions carry out a joint struggle against atrocities being committed throughout the world.” He added that the office of the IFHC’s International had been established in Germany. A 12-member committee has also been formed to mobilise the IFHC at the public level in Europe, he said. The IFHC International will inaugurate its offices in Germany, Brussels and Holland at the end of the month of September, Syed Khurram Shah (Germany) has been appointed as the convener for setting up the organisation in European countries, whereas Lord MK Pasha will be the spokesperson of the IFHC International in Europe.
