LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday said that the people of Pakistan had rejected untimely ‘Long March’ and ‘Inqilab March’ of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek respectively.

"Disgruntled and power hungry politicians will not succeed in their attempt to sneak into power corridor through backdoor," he said while talking to various delegations which called on him. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N government was working within the ambit of law and the constitution.

He also said that the government was responsible for protecting people. He said few elements with nefarious designs could not be allowed to take people hostage for their lust. He said 180 million people had mandated the PML-N and asking for resignation from an elected prime minister was unconstitutional and an insult to the people's mandate.

Shahbaz said holding of ‘Long March’ or ‘Inqilab March’ would leave a negative impact on the Zarb-e-Azb military operation. He also said owing to politics of agitation, the economy was being affected adversely.

The chief minister expressed government's resolve to lead Pakistan to the road to progress and prosperity under the sagacious leadership of the prime minister.
