Sherpao urges PTI, PAT not to cross red-lines

ISLAMABAD – Former Interior Affairs minister and Qaumi Wattan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmed Sherpao on Thursday urged the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) not to cross red-lines and avoid unconstitutional demands.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that the sacrifices rendered by the nation for the rule of law and restoration of democracy must not go waste. He said that a few thousand people could not make hostage the whole system, parliament, democracy and above all the economy.
He lauded the patience and political acumen of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “Parliament is supreme institution and it is good omen that all political parties are supporting the government,” he said. He thanked the Balochistan Assembly, bar associations, chambers of commerce for supporting democracy and rejecting civil disobedience movement.
He expressed the hope for the success of the process of dialogue which has been initiated between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Awami Tehreek and the government. He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were disappointed over the performance of the PTI in the province.
A prime minister having thumping majority of the House as well as confidence of the people must not resign on demands of a few disgruntled persons.
