PTI ready to end political deadlock, but no more flexibility: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD – Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that his party desires to end political deadlock but would not show any further flexibility in its stance.
Talking to journalists after his meeting with a delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday, he said that the government side was not responding to the demands of the resignation of the prime minister. He said it was evident from the prime minister’s gesture that he did not want solution to the problem.
“We will not support any unconstitutional move,” he said. “Currently, we are not holding talks with the government. We have not given any minus-one formula nor we are in its favour,” he said. Jamaat chief Sirajul Haq told journalists that the matter had reached a point that the prime minister should resign for 30 days with subsequent condition of court's probe into the election rigging to determine the PM should continue or not.
However, it could not be agreed upon, he said. The government did not want to talk on the prime minister’s resignation, he said. He also said that both the parties were in contact with each other. He praised PTI workers and supporters for remaining peaceful throughout their long march. “Not a single window pane is broken during the protest, which is encouraging,” he said.
The Jamaat chief said that there was no hopelessness; a ray of hope if still there the crisis would end soon. Siraj warned that if the PTI resignations were accepted it would intensify the crisis further. He said that one million displaced persons of North Waziristan were also suffering due to the ongoing political impasse in Pakistan. He invited other parties to join the negotiations process to end the political impasse.
