Agenda of upcoming Joint China Commission reviewed
Meeting in Beijing to focus on infrastructure development, energy projects

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday chaired a meeting that finalised preparations of the upcoming third meeting of the Joint China Commission (JCC) here at the PM's House.
The meeting reviewed the agenda of the upcoming commission’s meeting scheduled to take place in Beijing this week. A delegation, comprising Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik and senior government officials will attend the meeting.
The prime minister was informed that the upcoming meeting would focus on infrastructure development and energy related projects. Nawaz said that China was a time-tested friend of Pakistan that understood its needs and had always been there to assist it in meeting them.
He appreciated the Chinese support for Pakistan, besides lauding his energy and economic teams on obtaining approval of the Chinese government for putting power projects. He said that the projects, approved during the Joint Working Group meeting held earlier this month, would have the generation capacity of 10,400 megawatts on first priority list and emphasised that steps should be taken to ensure their timely completion.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the decisions taken in the previous preparatory meeting held last week. Minister for Finance Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and other senior government officials also attended the meeting.
