Tahirul Qadri rejects Model Town FIR

LAHORE: Geo News has obtained the copy of First Information Report (FIR) of the Model Town tragedy which nominates 21 people including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and others.

However, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Tahirul Qadri has rejected the FIR, saying the case has not been registered under the sections of anti-terrorism act.

Besides Prime Minister and CM Punjab, the FIR also nominates Hamza Shahbaz, former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah as well as five federal ministers including, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Information Minister Pervez Rashi, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and State Minister for water & power Abid Sher Ali.

The then DIG operations Rana Abdul Jabbar and four SPs, DSPs and SHOs who served under him as well as other police personnel were also nominated.

The FIR was lodged in Faisal Town police station a few days ago with case number 696-14 under sections 149, 148, 109 and 155, police sources said.


The FIR had been registered following the orders of Lahore High Court (LHC) under various sections including murder and attempt to murder.

Earlier, the Minhaj-ul-Quran had accused 21 persons including the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Punjab and federal and provincial ministers for their alleged involvement in the Model Town incident.

The federal government had directed to register case as per the complaint of the affectees and the decision was endorsed by the Punjab government.
