President to attend Erdogan’s oath taking ceremony in Ankara

ANKARA – President Mamnoon Hussain has arrived at Ankara on a two day visit to Turkey to attend the oath taking ceremony of newly elected Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan earlier served Turkey as the prime minister for eleven years. The president is accompanied by the Adviser to the prime minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz. The oath taking ceremony is being attended by the many heads of state and the government as well as other high-level foreign dignitaries.

The president was received at the Ankara Airport by Burhan Kayatürk, Chairman of Turkey-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Deputy Governor Ankara, Garrison Commander and other high ranking officials. Upon his arrival, the President was presented a guard of honour.

On the occasion, the president said that Pakistan attached high priority to its special and strategic relations with Turkey which were based on mutual trust, respect and understanding. “Coming to Turkey is like coming home”, he said.

Pakistan and Turkey enjoy excellent bilateral relations, marked by cordiality, deep mutual trust and understanding. In recent years, the relationship has transformed into a strategic partnership, with a strong emphasis on economic collaboration.

The president's visit would reinforce efforts for closer bilateral cooperation and further strengthen the growing partnership between the two countries.
