KP CM orders ministers back to offices
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has asked all his cabinet ministers to attend their offices in Peshawar to dispose off pending works and solve public grievances and then go to Islamabad for participation in the PTI sit-in.
The chief minister issued this directive on Wednesday after the senior bureaucracy told him that governance had got affected due to the ministers’ involvement in the sit-in. “He directed this while taking notice of the fact that a bulk of work is pending in offices of the provincial ministers and the Civil Secretariat as well as the attached ministers block which gave deserted look due to non-availability of the ministers concerned during office timings,” a communique from the Chief Minister’s office.
It said that after the clear-cut instruction all the provincial ministers started attending their offices and disposing official works before proceeding to Islamabad for the Azadi March. Since August 14 when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan launched anti-government campaign all PTI ministers were absent from offices to attend sit-in and coalition partner Jamaat-e-Islami ministers were attending their offices.
A senior government official said governance was greatly affected by CM and ministers’ regular absence from province due to the sit-in in Islamabad. “Since August 14 the province is without chief executive as he is more busy with party dharna than official business,” the official spoke on condition of anonymity.
