20 small dams to be constructed in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power has worked out a plan to construct 20 new small dams in Balochistan in the next three years.

According to a PC-1 submitted to the ministry by WAPDA, the dams have been divided into two zones, South and North. These dams will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.53 billion in the next three years, an official told online.

According to the official, the federal government will contribute around Rs1 billion on the project in the current financial year while the same amount of money will be borne by the provincial government.

Among these 20 dams, Jandar Dam will be constructed at a cost of Rs185.75 million, Shamsi Dam at Rs555.56 million, Sohnda Giryoni Dam at Rs1.3 billion, Morgai Dam at Rs425.24 million, Nilag Dasht Dam at Rs246. 47 million, Soorap Dam at Rs166.73 million, Soran Dam at Rs144.3 million, Arha Dam at Rs634,18 million, Washak Dam at Rs574.94 million, Zorkan Dam at Rs229.89 million, five dams in Qilla Abdullah at Rs148.69 million, Sanjdani Dam at Rs348.8 million, Bochani Dera Dam at Rs290.2 million, Kadani Dam at Rs585.99 million and Khazar Dam at a cost of Rs467.37 million.
