Water level up to 293 ft at Hub Dam

KARACHI: Due to recent rains in Balochistan and Sindh, the water level went up to 293 feet at Hub dam, which supplies water to Karachi.

The supply of water from the dam was suspended due to shortage during summer and the holy month of Ramazan but now due to rains water has entered into the dam up to more than 14 feet level.

Sources said that only four feet high water had come into the dam last month and it increased three days ago following further rains in the mountaineous areas of Balochistan and Sindh.

Rain water is still flowing into the dam due to which the level increases day by day, according to sources.

The supply of water from Hub Dam to Karachi is going on under an automatic system.

Due to the recent increase, water has been reserved to meet the requirement up to about a year, said experts.
