Waseem Akhtar's bail extended till August 20

KARACHI: Bail request of MQM's Waseem Akhtar was extended while that of Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan was confirmed on Monday.

According to details, proceedings for the bail application of the two MQM leaders were conducted at the court of Judicial Magistrate South. The court extended bail of Waseem Akhtar till August 20 while the bail application of Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan was confirmed. The court requested that Waseem Akhtar be produced at the next hearing of the case.

Speaking to media personnel, Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan said that Qaim Ali Shah's government had registered an FIR against him for protesting against the shortage of water in Karachi. He said that the provincial government did nothing for the people and when MQM's representatives reminded them of their duty, then a FIR was registered against them.

He also said that after successful negotiations, it had been promised to them that the problem would be resolved. If the government wanted to register a FIR, then why did it resort to holding fake negotiations, he asked.
