Interior Ministry has completely failed: Aitzaz

QUETTA: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan spoke to media personnel on Thursday and said that the Interior Ministry had totally failed, in light of the recent attacks in Quetta.

Flanked by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah, Aitzaz said that the National Action Plan had been made with the purpose that its twenty points would be implemented. He said that the Interior Ministry had failed due to the recent terrorist attacks.

"Four days ago, a bomb blast took place and a blast took place even today," he said. "The Interior Ministry has failed totally," he added.

Aitzaz said that the National Action Plan was not being implemented and that the injured who were transferred to Karachi, their treatment was being undertaken by Sindh government. He urged the Bar Association to set up a fund for the education and health of the children of those who had been martyred in the Quetta bombings. Ahsan said that he would try to collect as much funds as he can for the trust.

Leader of the Opposition Khursheed Shah spoke as well and said that the recent spate of terrorism in Quetta reflected the failure of security agencies. Shah said that if the National Action Plan would be implemented, then such attacks would not take place.

"It does not matter whether the government is weak or not. The state should not be weak," said Khursheed Shah. "If the state becomes weak, then so does its institutions," he added.
