Terrorists involved in attack on Shuja Khanzada arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed to have arrested four terrorists of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi.

Addressing a press conference, SSP SIU, Farooq Awan said that the militants were arrested during an action launched near Disco Bakery.

He said the arrested terrorists have been identified as Azhar Hussain, Abdul Adeel, Syed Kashif Ali and Syed Aleem.

He said the suspects had prepared a suicide bomber to attack former Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada.

SSP said that they were also involved in kidnapping for ransom, extortion and murder by adorning police uniform.

The senior police officer said that the arrested terrorists dodged the people by showing themselves as advertisers on social websites.

It was also learnt that the terrorists were planning to attack or kidnap a high personality, he added.

Police seized two LMGs and a Kalashnikov from their possession.

SSP Awan said suspect Syed Kashif had formed Jindullah Group in 2007 whose head was Abu Sufiyan aka Mavia. The group is involved in various terrorist activities.
