Workers of a political party besiege office of private TV channel
KARACHI: Unidentified men besieged office of a private TV channel and set a blaze police mobile and motorcycle in Saddar on Monday.
Aerial firing has also been reported in the area.
One person was killed and several others were injured in the violent incident. Head of Emergency Ward at Jinnah Hospital, Seemin Jamali, has confirmed that, "At least one person was brought dead (to JPMC) while several others were injured."
The management of the private TV channel has alleged that the unidentified persons were workers of a political party.
They also caused damage to shops located in Zainab market forcing owners to close.
The infuriated persons also set a blaze police mobile and motorcycle near the office of private TV channel.
There are traffic jams in areas surrounding I.I.Chundrigar road, while the road leading to CM House has also been shut.
The CM has telephoned IG Sindh and directed action against those involved.
IG A.D Khawaja has taken strict notice of the incident and sought detailed report from DIG South.
He also directed the police officials to beef up security at media outlets.
