MQM’s Farooq gathers himself together, vows to take party’s ideology forward

MQM chief Altaf apologises for anti-Pakistan remarks

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) senior leader Farooq Sattar after being released by the rangers early on Tuesday (today) said that the party speaks for a common man’s needs and help people bring forth their demands.

Farooq Sattar is in a constant contact with MNAs and MPAs of MQM. He promises to reveal important facts in a press conference which he intends to hold today.

“We will take MQM’s ideology forward,” said Sattar after recovering from rangers’ detention

Earlier on Monday evening the parliamentary Ranger forces detained Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) senior leaders Farooq Sattar and Khawaja Izhar after two media houses were attacked by MQM activists following party Chief Altaf Hussain’s provoking speech.

Sattar initially attempted to resist being taken into custody but was eventually convinced to follow orders. Khawaja Izhar also accompanied him to the Rangers headquarters. DawnNews reported that Rangers officials informed the MQM leaders that DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar wanted to see them.

The Rangers also raided MQM headquarters Nine Zero Monday night, taking nine other party leaders into custody and sealing MQM offices. The paramilitary force also recovered weapons from Nine Zero, which will be sent for forensic tests.

The MQM supremo today apologised to the military for his earlier ‘anti-Pakistan’ remarks.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Farooq Sattar earlier today.
