NAB Rawalpindi distributes Rs 160m among 333 victims

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi distributed a sum of Rs160 million among 333 victims of M/s Capital Builders Pvt Ltd, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), UNAICO, Data Motors and National Fertilizers Marketing Company Ltd (NFML) etc and government departments at a ceremony held here today. Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) was the Chief Guest at this occasion. Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) handed over cheques to the affectees and concerned government departments.

Addressing on the occasion the Chief Guest Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) said form the past 60 years injustices have damaged the country and some of looters have looted the hard earned money of the general public. The purpose of the establishment of NAB was to take action against all such looters and recover the amount, and give it back to its real affectees.

He said that, I have full faith in the abilities and courage of Chairman NAB, Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry. Under the leadership of Chairman NAB, Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry NAB has recovered Rs. 160 million from the looters and today NAB is distributing this amount amongst the real affectees and departments. I am really happy to see the happy faces of the people who are here to receive their cheques. I also congratulate NAB on their efforts to provide justice and comfort to general public by recovering their looted money and giving it back to them. NAB is the only hope and Anti-Corruption organization who put hand on the real culprits without any fear and pressure.

He further said that trust of general public upon NAB has increased. The recent PILDAT report also witnessed that 42% people have trust in NAB and that a good sign, as a result the receipt of complaints have been doubled from 10,000 to 20,000.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Chairman Rear Admiral (R) Saeed Ahmed Sargana appreciated the efforts of NAB Rawalpindi for actively pursuing the corruption cases and making recoveries of the embezzled amounts. He said NAB is making all out efforts to recover the looted money from the swindlers. However, this practice to invest in the unauthorized schemes in greed of more interest and returns on investments must be ended and discouraged.

He urged the people to invest only in the government approved banking system and investment companies. He said that NAB is proactively pursuing corruption cases to clear the backlog and taking concrete measures to discourage and eradicate corruption from society.

Talking at the event, Director General NAB Rawalpindi Col (R) Shahzad Anwer Bhatti gave details of the efforts of NAB in recovering looted money and hoped that people will be more vigilant in future and check credentials of all such investment companies before handing over their hard earned money.
