United front to be established against PML-N, PPP: Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief and former president Pervez Musharraf has said that the country is in the midst of crises and the institutions have weakened due to the inefficiency of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) governments. Addressing the APML Women Wing at the study secretariat of the party on Saturday, Musharraf said that a third political force was a need of the hour to rid the country off the present situation. He said that a united front comprising different opposition parties would be formed against the PML-N and PPP, adding that talks were underway with the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League-F (PML-F), Khosa group and others in this connection. Musharraf said that he would visit the federal capital soon to play his role in making the APML a more effective party. “When the institutions become weak and the judiciary does not play its role, people take law in their own hands and protest. The country is sinking economically as the poverty ratio is increasing and there is a shortage of electricity and gas. This is because of the wrong economic policies of the PML-N and PPP governments as the country has all the required resources to stand on its own feet. There is no system of check and balance,” he added. In this scenario, Musharraf said, everyone would have to play his/her role, particularly the women. He said that his party would establish women wings in all the provinces. Addressing the function, APML Central Secretary General Dr Amjad hoped that a united front comprising five groups of the Muslim League would soon come into existence.
