Funeral of killed PTI worker in Faisalabad today

FAISALABAD: Normalcy returned to Faisalabad after a day of serious clashes between political parties’ workers and police that resulted in the death of a worker belonging to protesting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) whose funeral prayers will be offered today (Tuesday).

Yesterday proved to be chaotic after riots erupted when the supporters and workers of PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) swarmed the Ghanta Chowk in Faisalabad to register their anti-government protest.

Due to the protest in several areas, educational institutions, shops and offices remained closed and there was thin traffic on the roads that caused immense difficulties for the commuters.

However, the situation improved today after the routine life resumed in the city as businesses and educational institutions are open.

On the other hand, the PTI has announced to observe a day of mourning throughout the country after their worker’s death. The lawyers of District Bar Association have also boycotted the court proceedings to mark the mourning.

The deceased worker, identified as Haq Nawaz, will be laid to rest today after his funeral prayers will be offered shortly.

It may be mentioned that during yesterday’s protests, a Geo News cameraman Zaheer Khan, two policemen and five citizens were also injured.
