German envoy discusses security situation with army chief

RAWALPINDI – German Senior Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Ambassador Doctor Michael Koch called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at General Headquarters on Tuesday.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest and regional security particularly in the context of drawdown of US and NATO forces from Afghanistan. Sources said that the army chief once again reiterated the commitment of Pakistan to extend all possible assistance to Afghanistan in maintaining security and stability.
He said that Pakistan Army was carrying out an across the board operation against militants to root out the menace. The German special representative appreciated the military operation Zarb-e-Azb and Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism. SRAP was accompanied by German Ambassador in Pakistan Doctor Cyrill Nunn.
