Pakistan, Iran agree to increase mutual investment, bilateral trade

ISLAMABAD - The Iranian Minister for Economic Affairs and Finance Dr Ali Taiebnia called on Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif at the PM’s House here on Tuesday.

The discussions focused on Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, with particular reference to the economic dimension. Both sides underscored the importance attached to deeper bilateral relations for increased trade and economic cooperation. Taiebnia is visiting Pakistan to attend the 19th session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission, being held in Islamabad on December 8-9 2014.

The prime minister hoped that the session would open new areas of cooperation while fortifying the existing initiatives that the two brotherly countries have engaged in so far. The meeting agreed to increase mutual investment and bilateral trade between the two countries. He conveyed his best wishes to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar was also present during the meeting.
