Govt, PTI form teams for dialogue

ISLAMABAD: Following the announcement by Federal Minister for Finance on the resumption of dialogue process with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the government and the PTI announced their respective teams for the dialogue process.

The government negotiating team would be headed by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and would comprise Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Senator Rafiq Rajwana. Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Barrister Zafarullah Khan will assist the team on need basis.

The PTI team will be headed by Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Jehnagir Khan Tareen and Asad Umar will be part of it. Eminent jurist Hamid Khan will assist the team on legal subjects.

Earlier, while addressing a press conference, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar announced that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was ready for an unconditional dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its demand to conduct an independent judicial inquiry into the 2013 general elections would be addressed.

Ishaq Dar also phoned PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi to formally invite his party to the negotiation table. He conveyed to Shah Mehmood Qureshi that the government had agreed to resume the talks, thrashing out the Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the proposed commission.
