President, PM pledge to cleanse country of terrorism, extremism

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Presidency on Thursday and briefed him about the Peshawar tragedy and the contours of All Parties Conference (APC) held in Peshawar.

The prime minister apprised the president that at APC political parties unanimously agreed to completely eliminate the scourge of militancy and extremism from the country. The president welcomed the unanimity agreed upon at the APC and said that this showed the unflinching determination of Pakistanis to collectively thwart the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements.

Both the leaders agreed that the operation against militants would continue till the elimination of last terrorist. Both dignitaries also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of the martyred school children and soldiers of the Pakistan Army.

Earlier, Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on the prime minister and informed him about formation of the committee consisting of political parties to devise a national plan of action against terrorism.
