Rs 30 billion spent on IDPs: Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that Rs 30 billion had been spent on the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

In a statement the information minister said more resources would be provided to address Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s reservations.

The statement by the information minister was a response to Khan who had called on the federal government to help the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in regards to IDPs and Afghan refugees.

Rashid stated that the federal government would provide KPK government Rs 26 billion this year for anti-terrorism. According to Rashid this was the one percent additional grant in the NFC award which was being given to the KPK government as it was the worst affected province due to terrorism.

The information minister added that the federal government was aware of Imran Khan’s reservations regarding terrorism and the IDPs. He further said that the federal government would fulfill its responsibilities on these matters.
