PAT stages nationwide rallies against school massacre

LAHORE/MULTAN/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Sunday staged nationwide rallies against the massacre of schoolchildren in Peshawar.

In Multan, dozens of PAT workers, including women, took out a rally from Ghanta Ghar Chowk to Nawan Shehr. Participants of the rally condemned Taliban and prayed for the victims of the attack. A rally was also taken out in Jhang, where participants carrying placards and banners marched from Majid Amjal Park to Fawara Chowk. Women and children were among the participants. Similar rallies were staged in many cities of Punjab including Lahore. In Islamabad, the PAT activists held a demonstration at Aabpara Chowk where they chanted slogans against terrorists and demanded strict action against them. Young Parliamentarians and National Awami Party also held protests on Sunday against Peshawar Massacre.

A rally was taken out in Peshawar which demanded the government extend the operation Zarb-e-Azb to other parts of the country. Scores of people including women and children participated in the rally which started from Chowk Ghanta Ghar and culminated at Maj Jahanzeb Shaheed chowk. The rally was led by Zonal Nazim PAT Mufti Irshad Hussain Saeedi, Dr Zubair A Khan, District President PAT Yasir Shah, Rao Muhammad Arif and other leaders. They strongly condemned the incident and demanded deterent punishment to terrorists. They also called for imposing ban on leaders of banned organisations. They also appreciated lifting of moratorium on death penalty. The local leadership of PAT hailed the role of Pakistan Army in eliminating terrorists.
