COAS praises NCTC, training sessions


RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the National Counter Terrorism Training Centre (NCTC) and spent his day witnessing the sessions of high profile training events.

He saw the final day of the two-month long Pak-China exercise Warrior-4, which was focused on high impact counter terrorism operations both in rural and urban areas using both countries’ heli-borne and special forces. While speaking to the officers and troops, COAS said that sharing the best experiences through these exercises improved the combat skills of Chinese and Pakistan troops.

He emphasised that these exercises integrated the two armies and would help Pakistan to eliminate terrorism. Newly built NCTC was recognised as a world class facility and attracted other armies, who want to train with our army. COAS appreciated the friendly countries’ interest in training with Pak Army, and said that we will continue to offer training services for defeating the menace of terrorism.

COAS praised the training centre’s staff for training the rangers, police, Airports Security Force and other services involved in fighting militants. Later, the Chinese military commander paid his gratitude to the army for the highest standard of training and skills, an asset that China shall benefit from. Chinese commander said that our successful training will help to consolidate long term strategic friendship of the two countries. COAS also witnessed the first ever long range sniper shooting competition called ‘The Striker’s Cup’, in which top 100 civilian and military shooters from all over the country participated. COAS awarded prizes to the best shooters.

Major Junaid was declared the best shooter and won the striker’s cup. COAS directed to expand the scope and participation of firers to train our youth to be able to win shooting competitions at international level. On his arrival, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Umar Farooq Durrani.
