World acknowledges Pakistan’s success against terrorism: defence minister
Asif calls India, Afghan to cooperate with Pakistan in elimination of terrorism from region

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan’s achievements in elimination of terrorism was highly appreciated and acknowledged by international community.

“Terrorism is not an issue of Pakistan but the entire world. Pakistan was successfully fighting war on terror to maintain complete peace in the region,” he said while talking to a private TV channel. The minister called upon India and Afghanistan to cooperate with Pakistan in elimination of terrorism from the region. He said that India and Afghanistan should show their positive attitude on sensitive issues.

Asif said that Pakistan offered India to constitute a joint investigation (JI) on Pathankot incident to investigate the matter. He maintained that Pakistan would not allow terrorists to use its soil for their nefarious designs. Commenting on Karachi law and order situation, he said that Karachi was an economic hub of Pakistan and the peace has been restored in the metropolitan which is in the national interest.

To a question, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s role in defusing tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran was highly appreciated and recognized by the two countries. He added that Pakistan was enjoying good ties with two Muslim countries.

To another question, he said that several power projects would be completed in this year which would help to meet the energy shortage.
