‘Karachi operation brings crime rate down’

ISLAMABAD: The on-going operation against criminals in Karachi has helped decreased 53 percent incidents of target killings and 50 percent murder incidents.

There is a visible improvement in security situation throughout the country particularly in Karachi since the present government of PML-N assumed office in June 2013.

According to reports, data showing implementation status of National Action Plan (NAP) on Saturday revealed that terrorism in Karachi witnessed decrease by 80 percent, dacoities by 30 percent and extortion reduced by 56 percent due to the Rangers operation in Karachi. As per reports, the data showed a total of 69,179 criminals, 890 terrorists, 676 proclaimed offenders, 10,426 absconders, 124 kidnappers, 545 extortionists and 1,834 murderers were also apprehended and 16,306 weapons recovered during the Karachi operation. Similarly, 3,416 Afghan refugees have been deported including 2,844 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 195 from Balochistan, one in Islamabad and 376 from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) under NAP.
